Keyword Density has been a very confuzing thing since the beginning and many people have different ideas about Keyword Density.
You heard about Keyword Density, I don’t have any doubts in it. But If you don’t, then you should know about it.
There are 2 groups of SEO. One is OnSite SEO while the other is OffSite SEO. Keyword Density belongs to OnSite SEO group since it is a major factor that can be optimized in your website.
If you’re really serious in getting Organic Traffic from search engines, this is a factor you should optimize in all your content.
So what is this Keyword Density?
Keyword Density Introduction
Keyword Density means the number of times that a particular keyword appears in a post. This is so important factor. There are so many tools to measure Keyword Density of your post. I’ll mention some of them at the end of the post. Most of these tools give it as a percentage. It is calculated by this way:
Number of times Keyword/Total Number of Words in the Post X 100 = Keyword Density Percentage.
For example:
11/1000 x 100 =1.1% Keyword Density
Impact On Your Blog Post
You are writing each and every post to get people to read it and engage with your content. You can promote your content on Social Media Sites to get decent amount of visitors, but if you’re dealing with Google Adsense or similar PPC Ad Networks.
You need to target Organic Traffic, in other words Search Engine visitors who visit your post after finding it on a Search Engine for a relevant query.
Those visitors are more targeted & they are very natural. Google likes natural things.
Keyword Density is something important in ranking for your Primary Keyword in the Search Engine Results Page(SERPs). But no one knows the accurate Keyword Density percentage.
I always target to keep Keyword Density of my posts at 1%. Because I believe that its the percentage that works well. Nothing is awesome when it is more than enough.
Could you drink 10 bottles of your most favorite Soft drink at the same time?
Therefore, you need to keep the Keyword Density under 3%. When you add your primary keyword more than enough, it’s what we called Keyword Stuffing and that where you get marked as Spam and that’s where you’re going to get punished.
Guess your latest blog post contains 1000 words and you’ve repeated the Primary Keyword 50 times(5%) Isn’t it looks more than enough. Could it be naturally available 50 times throughout the content? No! that never happens, Because a natural blog post contains 1000 words cannot meet the Primary Keyword 50 times. Insanely, over usage manually.
Science behind the Keyword Density is the natural mention of the Keyword. For example, when you write a post called “How to ride a Sports Car”.
You should get the keyword ‘Sports Car’ naturally few times throughout the post. It’s really hard not to use that keyword at least 10 times in a 1000 word post naturally. If the blog post is really about the Sport Car riding guide, that should happen that way. This is how Keyword Density is working according to the science of it.
- Remember to keep your Keyword Density lower than 1.5%.
- Use variations of Primary Keyword after you reach the above percentage.
- Use similar words to your Primary Keyword.
- Never do Keyword Stuffing.
Keyword Density Checking
If you don’t count the number of your Primary Keyword appearing in the content, probably you may go beyond the 1% Keyword Density. Again Keyword Stuffing is something you get ignored from search engines.
You need to maintain the fair density by counting it. I promised to show you few Density checking tools. So here they are,
If you’re using WordPress Platform instead of Blogger, you can use the Yoast’s WordPress SEO plugin to check the Density and do more OnSite SEO. It also gives you the opinion about the percentage.
First, don’t care about the Keyword Density when you write the blog post. Once you finished writing, you can start the proofreading to correct the mistakes and places to optimize. Because when you write without concentrating on Density, you’re creating a great content which has the Primary Keyword naturally.
So what’s your opinion about the miracle of Keyword Density? Is it worthy to stick with it or not?
